Frequently asked questions about pond liners

These are the most common questions that people ask us about pond liners. If you have any others of your own, please feel free to contact us.

1) Why should I opt for a box welded liner rather than a flat liner?

Many of our clients request a box liner because of its tailored fit which eliminates unsightly folds. It also limits bacterial build-up behind folds in the liner.

Butyl rubber is considered an ideal material for water retainment due to its durability and long life expectancy. It is widely recognised as the best flexible pond liner on the market.

3) How do I fit my liner when I receive it?

Before you receive the liner we will contact you to discuss how the liner will be packaged and how to fit it. However, if you are apprehensive about the fitting - remember we are only a 'phone call away'!

4) What if I want to know more before I decide to go ahead?

We pride ourselves on giving a personal service so no matter how small the query we receive, we promise to give it our full attention. If there is anything you would like to discuss before proceeding with your order, call us and talk to the technician who will be making it for you.

A flange or lip is the piece of rubber around the top which is used for anchoring the liner into position for example, in between coping stones. Normally, our box-welded liners will come with a minimum of 4" to 6" flange with corners welded at no extra cost. If a larger flange is required, please advise when ordering.

6) Do box welded liners have to be a standard size or shape?

No, this is the beauty of this type of liner. Should you decide to opt for an irregular shaped pond, we specialise in making bespoke liners exactly for your requirement. In some circumstances, this may involve constructing the whole liner on site. Again, contact us to discuss your designs.

As with other flexible sheet linings eg PVC, EPDM etc. it is highly recommended that you use some form of protective cushioning for the liner. Amongst types that can be used are sand, polystyrene and geofabrics. Depending on the type and size of the liner, all these serve as good protectors, most if not all manufactures will recommend the use of a geofabric due to its versatility, strength and convenience. There are various grades available on the market, at QBS we only supply high grade, tightly knit fabrics that will suit all applications. Do not hesitate to contact us for free samples and advice on 01773 744655.

8) Do you provide a guarantee?

All our flat liners are guaranteed for 35years. Custom / bespoke liners are guaranteed for 20years.
